5 Commandments to Beautiful Skin
1. NEVER SLEEP WITHOUT CLEANSING YOUR FACE
When the skin matures it loses a lot of its natural development of collagen, moisture, elasticity and ability to fight bacterias. When you sleep, your body, including your skin gets severely dehydrated. Just think about it...don’t you wake up feeling thirsty in the morning if you did not drink enough water at night or if you consumed too many salty foods? Well your skin goes through the same process, but as you age, your body is less able to produce the natural collagen, hydration and bacteria fighting abilities that it would when you were younger. That is why no matter how tired you are ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS cleanse your skin so that when you are sleep your body is not fighting against all the makeup or dirt that has been clogging your skin throughout the day.
2. CREATE A SKINCARE REGIMEN AND STICK TO IT
For more mature skin the basic and easiest skin care regimen besides cleansing should include 1) exfoliation 2) hydration and 3) treatment. Exfoliation is important because your body’s ability to expel toxins declines as you age. Exfoliating the skin allows for dead skin to be scrubbed away and allows for the fresh skin underneath to breathe. Hydration is extremely important since your skin also declines in its production of collagen and other natural hydrants. Finally, identify your skin problem whether it's sun damage or fine lines and find the product that will target that issue.
3. YOUR FOOD IS YOUR FUEL
Just like when you put cheap gas in a nice car and the engine begins to release grey smog, putting junk food in your body will impact the look of your skin. Eating healthy does not have to be expensive, in fact healthy eating is less expensive than constantly eating out and being lazy. Focus on plant based eating and listen to your body. Anything that comes from the ground such as any vegetables, fruits, grains and seeds and natural fats have amazing vitamins that your skin will love.
4. MAINTENANCE AT LEAST EVERY 6-8 WEEKS
The older you get the likelier that you may be susceptible to everyday toxins, and the less able your body is to fight them. That being said, a facial every 6 weeks is a must for the pores to get a deeper clean than the traditional exfoliator. Also, keep a good dermatologist in your contacts because you never know when you might have an outbreak that will need medical attention. When this happens it is best to see a dermatologist immediately and not try over the counter items as they may further irritate your skin.
I am 100% positive that this is not the first time you hear this and it will not be the last. The sun’s harsh rays are the #1 cause for premature aging. Sunscreen even on days where there is technically “no sun” is so important because it is the UV rays that are harmful and can appear even on cloudy days. Always have a sunscreen on hand and even carry a travel size in your bag to reapply.
